Is a Pikler Triangle Worth the Investment?

As a first time Mama I couldn’t wait for the day my toddler was big enough for us to get a climbing triangle! ⁣As a second time Mama, I realized the beauty of open-ended toys is the multitude of opportunities for purposeful play! This is a big gift that they will get so much out of that I think it’s worth the price! We got ours from an amazing Mama run company, Wiwiurka. You can shop their products here!

From the time Redding was born, I found new and different ways to use the climbing triangle to promote his motor development while also nurturing big sister’s and simultaneously staying sane during lockdown while we were stuck inside. This has been a tremendous confidence builder for our kiddos’ balance, stability, and foot/ankle development that translates to higher level play outdoors!

There’s so many ways to encourage purposeful play:

  • Reaching for toys overhead while on his back or his tummy⁣

  • Encouraging reaching for toys from hands and knees⁣

  • Learning to sit and reach for toys at increasing heights over time⁣

  • Batting at toys in hands and knees to encourage crawling⁣

  • Pulling to stand⁣

  • Cruising⁣

  • Climbing⁣

  • Foot & ankle strength and stability in standing on the bars⁣

  • Balance and body awareness walking across the ladder⁣

  • Single leg stability for transitioning over the peak⁣

  • Endless hours of pretend play as our triangle has become a reading nook, a fort, a tent & campfire, a cave, & a bridge to a faraway land

The Pikler Triangle is one of our favorite big gifts we’ve gotten over the years.
